Seasonal Exhibit

florida during the american revolution celebrating america 250

This seasonal exhibit invites visitors to explore the ideas, documents, and moments that have shaped our nation and Florida’s constitutional history. Through a mix of interactive displays, interpretive panels, and a guided timeline, the exhibit connects foundational principles—from early influences like the Magna Carta to the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and Florida’s governing framework—bringing the evolution of liberty to life. As part of this initiative, the museum is launching a community-wide Declaration of Independence signing project, traveling from the museum to the Dunedin Public Library and City Hall before returning for a special reenactment event on June 20 at Andrews Memorial Chapel.

America 250 Festivities: Bringing Independence to Life Through Reenactment & Community Signing

The Living Declaration is your opportunity to recreate history with the Dunedin History Museum. The community will be able to inscribe a word of the original Declaration in the original script at three locations throughout Dunedin: The Dunedin History Museum, Dunedin City Hall and The Dunedin Public Library. City/County Officials and more will be recreating the signatures on the Declaration throughout June. Once completed the Declaration will be on display at the Dunedin History Museum in our Florida During the American Revolution Celebrating America 250 exhibit. It will also make an appearance at the Hometown USA celebration at TD Ballpark on July 3rd.

Experience a live reenactment of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, “A Conversation Before Signing,” alongside a Revolutionary War encampment featuring historic tents, British regiments, and interactive activities like musket demonstrations and hands-on crafts. Doors open at 11 AM at Hammock Park.

Part of our Freedom in Focus initiative, sponsored by Duke Energy, this free community event is open to all.
